Stupid RenderMan/RAT Tricks 1999
Welcome to the very first Annual Stupid RenderMan/RAT Tricks!
What's on this page?
This is the very first Stupid RenderMan Tricks (SRT). Unfortunately, I don't have much here.
Here is what I have so far:
Speakers:
David Block -- Visual Shaders
Katsuaki HIRAMITSU -- clouds and sea surface shaders
Ivan DeWolf -- nonlinear displacements
Tom Duff -- talked about PRMan's RiBlobby primitive
So far only David Block has written me and gave me a link to his talk.
Visualization Shading
Here are the PowerPoint slides from David Block's talk on the topic of shaders for use in scientific visualization.
More information on his work in this area can be found at:
VisShade
Clouds and Sea
Katsuaki HIRAMITSU showed some images and talked about some of his shaders to create cool looking clouds and oceans. Check out his WEB page (go to the CLOUD and SEA sections) to see some of those images and a little bit of background on them.
Here are the smaller version of those images. At his web page you will find larger versions.
Nonlinear Displacements
Ivan DeWolf talked about nonlinear displacement shaders. The shader that he presented, IDgloop.sl, can be found under IDShaders.
